Temporary Worker – Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5) is designed for those applicants who want to come to the UK for up to six months to do farm work. Obligatory requirements include: an applicant must have a sponsor in the UK; an applicant must be from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland; the applicant must meet the other UK visa eligibility requirements.

The earliest you can apply for a Seasonal Worker visa is three months before the date you are due to start work in the UK. This date will be written on your certificate of sponsorship for a temporary worker. You are guaranteed to get a decision on your visa within three weeks when you apply from outside the UK. Many visa application centers also offer priority services, like fast visa decisions. For an extra fee, you can get your visa decision in a week (five working days), or even faster – in 24 hours. Before you apply, please check if your visa application center offers this option. 

UK Seasonal visa cost is £244. It allows its holder to stay in the UK for up to six months. UK Seasonal Worker visa holders are allowed to enter the UK as soon as their visa is valid (up to 14 days before the start date of the job).

There are a number of things that a UK Seasonal Worker visa allows its holders to do, and a number of things that are prohibited. Having a UK Seasonal Worker visa you can work in the job described in your certificate of sponsorship. Also, you are allowed to study, though some study courses demand an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate.

According to the standards of the UK Seaseonal Worker visa (Tier 5), you are not allowed to take a permanent job in the UK; to work in a second job;  to work in a job that is not described in your certificate of sponsorship. You cannot receive public funds and you are not allowed to bring family members with you.

UK Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5) eligibility requirements include: 

  1. Age – people who apply for a UK Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5) must be at least 18 or over;
  2. Sponsor – you must have a certificate of sponsorship reference number from your UK sponsor when you apply;
  3. Money – at least £945 that has been in your bank account for 90 days before you apply.

If your sponsor is fully approved (‘A-rated’) and has stated on your certificate of sponsorship that they will provide accommodation and food for your first month in the UK, then you do not need £945 in savings. The sponsor will also need to state that you will not claim benefits during your stay in the UK.

A certificate of sponsorship for a UK Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5) is a reference number. It holds information about the job and your personal details. Remember, it is not an actual certificate or paper document. You will get your certificate of the sponsorship reference number from your sponsor. You will need to add your certificate of sponsorship reference number to your UK Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5) application form. Remember, your certificate of sponsorship is valid for three months from the date it was assigned to you and you can only use it once. Some sponsors can give you a multiple entry certificate of sponsorship – this will give you an opportunity to leave and return to the UK.

When you apply for a UK Seasonal Worker visa you need to provide some documents starting with a valid passport or other travel identification. Also, you need to demonstrate you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in the UK (if needed). You can do it showing your bank statements and the fact that you have had at least £945 in savings in your bank account for 90 days before you apply for a UK Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5). This information is not necessary if your A-rated sponsor guarantees they can support you during your stay in the UK (if needed). Nationals of some countries need to provide their tuberculosis test results before they travel to the UK.

For your Seasonal Worker visa, you need a blank page in your passport. If you have another type of travel document, like a stateless person’s travel document, it must have space for your UK visa too. When applying, it is also important to provide a certified translation of any documents that are not written in English or Welsh, apart from your passport. It is worth mentioning, that the Home Office might ask you to provide additional documents after you apply for a UK Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5). The UK Home Office is a special department of the government that is responsible for work with immigration and passports, crime, counter-terrorism, and police in the UK.

For a UK Temporary Worker – Seasonal Worker visa (Tier 5) you must start your application process online. Then, as part of your application, you will need to have your fingerprints and photograph taken at a visa application center of your choice. This is for your UK biometric residence permit. You are obliged to collect your biometric residence permit within ten days of when you said you would arrive in the UK. 

Remember, depending on what country you are in and on the services your visa application center provides, you can get your visa decision faster. Check if your visa application center offers faster decisions, sometimes you can get it within just one week (five working days) or even faster – during one working day. Though, you will have to pay an extra fee for these priority and super-priority services. 

UK Season Worker visa applicants who have children while they are in the UK can apply online to add their children to their visas as dependants. If they want to travel in and out of the UK with children, they are obliged to add them to the online application form. They will need to provide a full UK birth certificate for each child, showing the names of both parents.
